Last week students from Years 7-9 presented the all American ‘High School Musical’ full of cheerleaders, jocks, brainiacs and some fabulous musical numbers including ‘We’re all in this together’ performed by the whole cast. The band also included three students from Years 8 & 9 who took on the score alongside the professional musicians.
Cydney Y8 performed as one of the iconic Cheerleaders and told us: “Taking part in this production has been a great bonding experience for all the year groups. All the singing and dancing brough everyone together and the show was full of adrenaline and energy.”
Deputy Head Al McConville said: “It has been three years since a Middle School Show, and the flood gates of pent-up dramatic energies were well and truly opened! Bravo to our talented team of dance, music and drama maestros. It was a great way to spend a Wednesday evening, and the theme of the show – in praise of breadth, variety and collaboration – really resonated!”
Sixth Form students who are studying the UAL Performing Arts course worked on the set design, helped to run rehearsals and manned the sound and lighting booth for the performances.
