Parent Portal – A Guide

19th June 24

Firefly

While our website is packed full of useful information for KAS families and those looking to join our community, we know that parents have been asking for a more tailored resource where useful School information can be collated.

With this in mind we have launched Firefly, a Parent Portal which will act initally as our email messaging system as well as acting as a central resource for information about KAS, including key dates, useful documents and links.

We plan to add more functionality to it over time and would welcome your feedback as we move forward with it.

Parents will continue to receive messages into their email inbox but in addition, they will also be stored in the Portal where you can search them by keyword, date or subject.

There are real benefits in using the Portal, which can be accessed via your web-browser or via an app.

Getting this set up on your web-browser is straightforward:

  • In your browser, navigate to the Parent Portal address (which you may want to save to your bookmarks) – https://kingalfred.fireflycloud.net/
  • Select ‘New to Firefly? Activate your account
  • Enter the email address the School already holds on record for you and select ‘Activate account’. An email will then be sent to your inbox
  • Check your email inbox. Make sure to check your junk folder or spam filters if you cannot see it
  • Open the email and select ‘Activate account
  • Enter a password of your choice, then confirm it
  • Once again, choose ‘Activate account
  • Your account is activated, and you are now logged in to the Parent Portal.

For the handy app, which includes the facility for notifications, simply visit the App Store (iOS) or the Google Play Store (Android devices), and search for the Firefly for Parents App. Then:

  • Open the Firefly for Parents App
  • Enter your school code by typing KINGALFRED
  • Enter your Firefly login credentials (see above), then select ‘Log In
  • The app might take a few moments to load all your information the very first time you log in – make sure to keep it open until it is fully finished.

Should anyone need any support or additional guidance getting set up on the new system – or if you encounter any issues, please email communications@kingalfred.org.uk and our team will get in touch with you. The launch of any new system can bring some teething problems, so in-person support will be available should anyone require it.

We hope you find the transition to the new system to be a helpful move. Please note, in the early stages we expect that Reports and Examination Results will continue to be sent via the old messaging system, but that functionality will be brought across into Firefly in due course. This will include student timetables from September.

We would be grateful for your feedback as you begin to use Firefly. Again, please contact communications@kingalfred.org.uk.
