What are The King Alfred School fees for 2026/27?

Our fees are billed termly and are due by the first day of each term. In accordance with the published terms and conditions of place acceptance, the school reserves the right to charge interest on overdue accounts. Fees are to be paid by Direct Debit or by signing up to School Fee Plan (scroll down for more information about this option).

Fees include Pupil’s Personal Accident Insurance Scheme premium. 

*Discount applied for students progressing from our Year 11 into the Sixth Form; these fees will be charged at the Year 11 rate.

Possible Additional Extras

  • Lower School: Camps (part of the curriculum for Years 4-6) and school trips, examination fees (music)
  • Upper School: Camps (part of the curriculum for Years 7-10) and school trips, text books (Year 9 upwards), specialised materials (such as for Photography and DT), examinations (including music/LAMDA)

Fee Deposit

When a place is accepted a deposit equivalent to one term’s fee is payable to the school. The deposit will be returned after the child’s final term at the school and any outstanding fees and other charges have been paid.

Notice of Withdrawal

Written notice of the removal of a student must be received by the Head on or before the first day of term at the end of which it is to take effect. In the absence of proper notice, the school fee for the following term must be paid and the fee deposit will be set against any liability arising under this paragraph.

Application Fee

There is a non-returnable Application Fee of £120 per child (at all entry points) payable upon submission of the Application Form.

Fees are generally revised at the start of each school year and take account of changing costs.

As an alternative to paying school fees termly, you can opt to pay fees and extras via monthly repayments through School Fee Plan. School Fee Plan has over 20 years’ experience in providing this service to parents. What bursaries does The King Alfred School offer?

Year 7 Bursaries

The school offers a limited number of Bursaries for Year 7 entry:

  • External candidates must register interest in a bursary by ticking the relevant box on the school application form. Interest in a bursary will not be accepted unless made via this method.
  • Once your interest in a bursary has been received and the registration fee has been paid, you will be sent a Bursary Application Form to complete.
  • The deadline to complete the school application form, pay the registration fee and register your interest in a bursary is Thursday 24 September, 2026.
  • The Bursary Application Form must be returned by Friday 9 October, 2026.
  • Registrations for Year 7 open on Friday 28 August, 2026, so you are advised to apply for a place as early as possible.
  • The process also involves an interview with an external bursary assessment company, which will check into your financial declarations on the completed form.

Sixth Form Bursaries

Financial support is available for students entering the Sixth Form, from both within and outside the school:

  • External candidates must register interest in a bursary by ticking the relevant box on the school application form. Interest in a bursary will not be accepted unless made via this method.
  • Once your interest in a bursary has been received and the registration fee has been paid, you will be sent a Bursary Application Form to complete.
  • The deadline to complete the school application form, pay the registration fee and register your interest in a bursary is Tuesday 27 October, 2026.
  • The Bursary Application Form must be returned by Monday 9 November, 2026.
  • You are advised to apply for a place as early as possible.
  • The process also involves an interview with an external bursary assessment company, which will check into your financial declarations on the completed form.
