Celebrations at KAS on GCSE results day!

21st August 25

Three female students hold the GCSE exam results alongside a male and female teacher at The King Alfred School

Pride was in abundance at The King Alfred School (KAS) as Year 11 students received their GCSE results.

  • The top grades of 8 and 9 made up one-third of all results, reflecting the exceptional achievement of students across a wide range of subjects.
  • The overall pass rate was also extremely strong, with 90.4% graded at 4 or above.
  • The proportion of results graded 7–9 (equivalent to A*-C) was more than double the national average and, once again, above the independent sector average.

KAS Head, Robert Lobatto, said:

“These results are a testament to not only the hard work, determination and talent of our students, but also the exceptional dedication of our teaching staff, who provide personalised support to all students, encouraging and stretching them to achieve their very best.”

Student Oliver R, who has attended the school since Reception, reflected:

“KAS has given me the tools to succeed going into Sixth Form and beyond. I love the environment and how supportive everyone is. Being able to speak my mind has helped me to grow in confidence.”

Fellow student Rocky C added:

“It’s the people that make KAS so special. My teachers were kind, encouraging and made learning enjoyable.”

September will see students progress to further study, ready to use the skills and personal qualities developed at KAS – including creative thinking, independence and a sure sense of self – as they continue to thrive.

Many will be attending the school’s Sixth Form, where last week students celebrated stellar A level results, including three-quarters of grades at A* – B.

Lynne Sasson, Head of Year 11, summed up:

“We are incredibly proud of every one of our students. Their results today underline their commitment and curiosity. At KAS, we celebrate not just grades but also the individual journeys our students take – the passions they’ve discovered, the confidence they’ve built and the futures they’re shaping.”

Everyone at KAS congratulates all students on their achievements and thanks staff, families and the wider KAS community for their ongoing support in nurturing this cohort of bright, determined and impressive young people.
