This Autumn Term, we had a fantastic opportunity to turn the Lower School Hall into a speakeasy from the 1920s for the Year 3 & 4 performance of Bugsy Malone.
The pupils performed so well and it was brilliant to see even the quietest of students singing their hearts out. From dancing to acting to singing solos, each child gave their absolute all. It was also really wonderful to see the KAS community come together to put on such a marvellous performance, with parents getting involved to help with hair and make-up as the audience settled into their seats.
Head of Lower School, Karen, said: “The joy of working together to put on a show should never be underestimated. The learning goes way beyond performance skills with children gaining deeper understandings of commitment, teamwork and resilience.”
Our Lower School performing arts calendar is full of opportunities throughout the year for children to get involved and develop an appreciation not just for the arts but all the hard work and dedication that goes in to putting on the simplest of shows. Our year groups not only have these bigger shows, but also have the chance to perform in their Callovers, LAMDA lessons and any of the many orchestras and ensembles the Lower School has to offer.
A huge thank you to everyone who was involved in any and every aspect of the production, with a special thanks to Camilla, who led the show and even spent time doing extra rehearsals on the day of shows with those who asked.
