Perfect poems from Year 6

Y6 student working with teacher

Students in Adele and Sophie’s Y6 classes have been creating beautiful poems full of characters.

Students were challenged to imagine what was going on in their Year 6 classrooms during lockdown. They imagined all sorts of mischief happening whilst the children were away. Their Lonely Classroom poems are sad and funny and hopeful, everything we need right now! Students worked on the skill of personification to help them to describe the classroom objects coming alive.

Before Easter Year 6 were enjoying their inquiry project on Peace and War. Adele explains: “We learnt so much through researching our own family histories and grandparents coming in to talk to us. As part of this study, we looked at photographs from the Blitz and were then inspired to write our own Blitz poems.”
