King Alfred School A-level Results
Year 13 students from King Alfred School celebrated today following news of their A level results today. Students were delighted as they secured their places at their first choice universities, as well as Art and Drama Colleges. Over 30% of grades were A* – A, and the pass rate was 99%. Perhaps most importantly, the results showed strong value-added progress over the last two years.
Robert Lobatto, Head of King Alfred School, said “At A level, the results are a testament to the hard work of the students, the strength of teaching and the unique experience that our vibrant Sixth Form offers. Each year our leavers go on to the universities of their choice and this year have maintained this excellent record. I congratulate all of our students and look forward to hearing of their future successes.”
Our Year 13 students did very well across all subject areas. Areas of particularly high performance included French, Spanish, Photography, Music, Music Technology, Media Studies, Art, Politics, English Literature, Economics and History. Special mention goes to Drama in which 100% of students achieved A* grades.
As students opened their results envelopes, they were reflective about their time at KAS as well as being excited about their future. One student who will continue her studies in English Literature at Bristol University said “Joining KAS Sixth Form was the best decision I have made both for my academic progress and my personal development. I am sad to leave KAS after 2 amazing years, but I’m excited about going to university and the challenges ahead”. Another student, who joined KAS in Year 7, said “I was expecting to do well but seeing my grades was the best surprise! I got two A* and D1, which is a grade up from A*. I’m going to Goldsmith University to study a BA in Anthropology and I am very excited about it. Throughout my time at KAS, I was incredibly well supported and that’s what sets KAS apart from other schools.”
KAS stands out from most other educational environments by achieving academic success without undue pressure. The exceptionally high staff to student ratio means that students enjoy friendly and close working relationships with extremely dedicated and well-qualified teachers. This nurturing approach enables each of our Sixth Formers to be supported and guided with care, suitable to their individual needs.
Rod Jackson, Head of Upper School said “Congratulations to our students whose results are worthy acknowledgement of their hard work. Our students have performed very well academically alongside all their other significant achievements in the last year such as sporting success, educational trips abroad and community action projects. Our students leave KAS as independent thinkers and with a passion for learning which stands them in good stead throughout their lives’.
