Jo Lucas

First Elected/ Appointed: 2022

Profession: Director of Co.Cre8

I have two girls at King Alfred, Rosalind in year 10 and Alex in year 9. I think we take the prize for the longest daily commute, travelling from Kew and hiking over the Heath whatever the weather. Tim, my husband, visited the school as a young engineer and fell in love with boats and the goat. Professionally, I lead a company called Co.Cre8 delivering change on mega-projects; from the refurbishment of the Palace of Westminster, to upgrading the tube and delivering London2012. I also lead the not-for-profit Ego to Eco, a collaboration with artist, Wolfgang Buttress (Hive, Kew Gardens) to share knowledge and inspire collective action in meeting the challenge of the most mega of mega-projects, the climate and biodiversity emergency. The best antidote to eco-anxiety is through collected action, especially for young people. https:www.linkedin.com/in/lucasjo/

For me, KAS is everything I imagine education should be. We have two girls, with very different learning profiles and personalities, who are both flourishing at the same school. I was fortunate enough to be involved in the first TEDx with a talk on Superheroes and Sidekicks, exploring what it means to lead in complex networks and based it on the KAS thrive circle as it aligns so closely with how I work.

I feel that my professional experience in implementing strategic change within complex organisations can support KAS as it moves into it’s next 125 yrs development phase seeking to lead in adapting to the changing education landscape.
