8th May 24
On Friday 3 May, former KAS students (now Old Alfredians) attended the London Schools Film Awards at Mill Hill School with Head of Film, Nuray, and Assistant Head of Sixth Form, Shelia.
It was a brilliant evening of celebrating the process of filmmaking, demonstrating technical skills, attention to detail, dedication to their craft and all the hard work that goes into creating some astonishing results. Nuray said:
“I could only enter a handful for these awards though, and Tom Dyer, Laura Murphy and Bertie Richmond carried the torch this year for KAS. All three of them went way beyond their usual lesson allocation for an entire year, editing in the evenings and going back to their work time and again to refine, tweak and edit.”
We were excited to learn that, out of the 14 awards on offer, Tom, Laura and Bertie won 10. This is an incredible achievement, with 30 schools having entered the competition and eight being shortlisted to the finals. Below are the categories that our students won:
Nuray added: “The audience response was brilliant. Bertie and Tom were able to attend to pick up the trophy haul, as well as graciously receive all the well-deserved plaudits. Thank you so much to Sheila for coming with us.”
Congratulations and well done to all involved. What a fantastic way to have started the bank holiday weekend.
