New Sixth Form Centre on track for Spring opening

8th October 20

sixth form building

The new Sixth Form Centre is on track to be completed before the end of this school year – great news for the current Y13 students who will get to use the new building before they head off into the wider world.

The new centre will house a welcoming common room with a sheltered outdoor terrace, a modern seminar room, a cutting-edge careers library, and a state-of the-art Sixth Form study area. While all these resources are available to our current Sixth formers, they are spread around the Manor Wood site. Bringing them all together will provide a dedicated, modern and inspiring space which meets the specific needs of our Sixth formers. Here is a visual recap of the journey so far:

March 2020 Demolition of the old MFL building is completed and foundations are prepared.
May 2020 blockwork bases for the wooden walls start to go in.
July 2020 Stairs are craned in.
September 2020 Roof beams are craned into position.
September 2020 Walls are added.
September 2020 You can start to see what the building will look like when finished.
October 2020 The roof is on and cladding is being added to the outside of the building.

Zah and the Estates team have done a great job managing the building project whilst also keeping the school site running smoothly.
