Performing on paper

Two students climbing on a structure

As our first cohort of UAL Performing Arts students finish the full course, Head of Drama, Lucy wanted to celebrate their achievements. On top of all their stunning performances, they’ve had to write mini-dissertations and the results can be found here.

Lucy said: “It’s been really interesting to read these personal investigations. The UAL course promises to bridge gap from Sixth Form to university, and these essays evidence this. These pieces of  writing are free from the formulaic conventions we normally steer students to in order to pass exams. They include all academic conventions of research including footnotes and Harvard referencing – our A level coursework does not ask for such rigour!

Importantly, they are also individual, as the students chose their specialist study; ranging from Bel Canto (beautiful singing in Opera) to the differences between American and British Comedy. They’re an excellent representation of our KAS student’s ability to conduct independent enquiry and their enjoyment of education. Take your pick and enjoy!”
