ISI Inspection

Within the nurturing, close-knit school community, pupils feel empowered to express themselves freely. As a result, they grow into confident, self-aware young people. – ISI Report 2025

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is responsible for the inspection of independent schools that are members of the Independent Schools Council (ISC). The government-approved inspectorate is monitored by Ofsted on behalf of the Department for Education.

The King Alfred School was inspected during the Summer Term in 2025 and successfully met all five standards against which schools are inspected, with the report highlighting many of the elements that make KAS such an exceptional place.

Reflecting on the inspection, Head Robert Lobatto said: “We’re delighted to have successfully passed our inspection and to receive such a positive report.

“We are pleased inspectors recognised that pupils gain the knowledge to thrive at school and beyond and highlighted our special community. Inspectors also noted the importance of diversity and inclusion is threaded through the school’s values and that pupils recognise their responsibility towards others in a global society.

“Additionally, we’re proud that our distinctive educational approach and quality of teaching was acknowledged, with praise for our Early Years provision, The Village Project, the UAL Performing Arts course, Explorations and School Directed Courses in the Upper School.”
