A level success for KAS Sixth Formers!

14th August 25

The rest are students dressed casually in jeans, skirts, or trousers. They are standing against a background of a brick wall on the left, a wooden panel on the right, and a green ivy-covered wall behind them.

The King Alfred School (KAS) was a-buzz with excitement as Year 13 students gathered to open their A level results — and the celebrations were well deserved!

This year’s cohort achieved outstanding results, including:

  • Over a quarter (27%) of results graded A*

  • Almost half (46%) graded A–A*

  • Three-quarters (75%) graded A*–B

Head Robert Lobatto praised the students’ commitment and spirit:

“Seeing our students celebrating is always a proud moment. They have worked with determination and heart, and they truly deserve their success. Their outstanding academic achievement is one of the cornerstones of our fully rounded KAS education, and I am excited to see what everyone will go on to achieve in their next chapter and beyond.”

In the school’s dedicated Sixth Form Centre, staff congratulated students as they shared plans for the future. The majority will soon be heading to their first-choice universities, with destinations including Oxford, Bristol and Kingston School of Art.

Students excelled across a wide range of subjects, with A*s awarded in Maths, Further Maths, French, Drama, History, Film Studies, Latin, English Literature, Geography, Art, 3D Design, Textiles, and Photography. All students who took the two-year UAL Extended Diploma in Performance & Production Arts achieved Distinctions — the highest grade available.

Student Success Stories

Rosalind secured a place at Magdalen College, Oxford after achieving an A and two A*s. She shared:

“KAS has been incredibly supportive — every single teacher has put in so much effort and been with me every step of the way. I was actually on a trip to the Southern States of the USA with the KAS History Department when I did my Oxford interview via Zoom! I’m going to study Ancient and Modern History, which I’m thrilled about.”

Jonathan, who has been at KAS since Reception, achieved three A*s (Maths, Further Maths, 3D Design) and an A in Economics, earning a place at the University of Bristol to study Maths.

“I feel great and I’m grateful to the teachers for all their support. I think the thing I’ll take away from KAS is the positive attitude to learning and life.”

The King Alfred difference

KAS’s approach sets it apart from many other schools — combining academic excellence with a supportive environment that avoids excessive pressure. With a high staff-to-student ratio and specialist teaching, each Sixth Former receives personalised guidance to help them thrive both academically and personally.

As one parent, Dan, reflected:

“My daughter joined KAS in Sixth Form and it’s been an incredible journey. She’s grown in ways I could never have expected. Before joining KAS, she never wanted to go to school. But at KAS she’s made amazing friends and achieved fantastic results.

“The ability to be yourself has been a huge factor. Also, the teachers are so focussed on helping students get the best out of life, and not just obsessed with results. It’s been a perfect balance.”

Congratulations to the Class of 2025 — we look forward to seeing what you achieve next!
