IMPORTANT NOTE

All members of the King Alfred School Community are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. To support this principle, this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore all convictions, cautions and bindovers must be declared. The successful applicant will be asked to consent to disclosure by the Criminal Records Bureau of any criminal record and inclusion in the ISA Children’s Barred List (people who should not be permitted to work in a school). A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to employment at KAS – see school policy on the Recruitment of Ex offenders in the application pack. Applicants are encouraged to discuss any concerns they may have with the Head, Robert Lobatto, or HR Manager Tricia Dyer on 020 8457 5200. The school requires you to reveal any criminal convictions, cautions or bindovers, whether spent or unspent, with your application by attaching details in a sealed envelope marked ‘Confidential’ and addressed to the Bursar. If you are currently working with children, either on a paid or voluntary basis, we will be asking your present employer about any disciplinary offences, including any involving children where the penalty has time expired. Your employer will also be asked whether you have been the subject of any child protection concerns and if so, what the outcome of any enquiry or disciplinary procedure was. If you are not currently working with children, but have done so in the past, your previous employer will be asked these questions. All applicants are required to sign the following declaration. Please note that providing false information in your application could result in it being rejected or in summary dismissal after appointment. If appropriate, the school reserves the right to inform the police or relevant child protection authorities.

DATA PROTECTION

The information that you provide on this form will be used to process your application for employment. The personal information that you provide will be used in a confidential manner to help with our recruitment process. If you succeed in your application and take up employment with the School, the information will be used in the administration of your employment. We may check the information provided by you on this form with third parties. By submitting the application form you consent to the processing of sensitive personal data.

APPLICANT’S DECLARATION

All posts involving direct contact with children are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. However, amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’. These are not subject to disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and conviction can be found on the Disclosure and Barring Service website or at Unlock.
