This year marked the first Year 10 King Alfred School trip to Embercombe in Devon.
It was a great four and half days in beautiful woodland where students engaged in a range of activities from charcoal making, to cooking, and gardening. The staff at Embercombe were extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the centre’s mission around sustainable living, and provided a unique opportunity to engage with life outside the big city.
We hope this is just the beginning of the school’s ties with the Embercombe, and that we can continue to develop our school’s vision with hands on, community-building experiences such as this. Students really threw themselves into life on the site, and although there was certainly work involved, took a huge amount away from the week.
