YR13 Economists visit the Bank of England Museum and Schroders PLC

6th March 17

Final year economists recently visited the Bank of England Museum and the Chief Economist of Schroders PLC in the City.

Schroders is a FTSE 100 member (top 100 companies in the UK) and with £400bn under management is the largest independent UK fund manager. We met the Keith Wade, their Chief Economist, to discuss the effects of recent events in the global economy, including Brexit and the election of Donald Trump. He also gave us some insights about how to pursue a successful career path in financial services.

Before that we attended a talk at the Bank of England, where we saw £1m of UK currency (which had been shredded unfortunately) and learned about the history and workings of the Bank.

The speaker was so enthusiastic that we ran out of time to pick up a gold bar – we will have to return.

John, Head of Economics
