Thrilling KAS vs UCS Girls' Football Game Goes to Penalty Shoot Out

9th February 17

The Girls’ Sixth Form Football teams from The King Alfred School and UCS battled it out on the field on the afternoon of Wednesday 8 February.

It was a thrilling and action packed game, with the two teams very well matched. The score remained tied 0 to 0 throughout, thanks to some great saves by both goalies. The players and spectators were on the edge of their seats at the end of the game when the girls went into penalty shots as a tie breaker. A grand cheer erupted that could be heard across the school grounds when the KAS team scored the winning goal.

KAS may have won this game 1 nil in the end, but UCS came out victorious in our the last game together. We hope to continue our friendly rivalry as the girls from both teams perfect their games this season. The girls have played in great spirits and showed a real enjoyment and dedication to the game.

Girls Football is a relatively new addition to sports at KAS. It is enjoying a hey day at the moment, with girls from nearly every year group showing an interest and getting involved, from the very experienced to those new at the game.

Thanks to Tom in PE for supporting girls’ football and coaching our teams so well.
