The King Alfred School Choir has filled our hearts with song this year.
As their final performance of the 2016-17 season, the group was invited to The Music for Youth Festival in Birmingham, an honour for our talented and dedicated student singers and music department.
The coach journey was uncannily quiet travelling up to Birmingham, as students prepared themselves for this important opportunity to show what they could do on stage, But, it was full of singing on the way back after a triumphant day. The coach driver loved it and even requested some songs!
KAS students looked smart in their matching red shirts, and lots of the girls added French plaits in their hair which the judges loved and commented on. The choir filled the symphony hall with joyous and slick performance. Sixth Form student Betsy was outstanding as the soloist in Perfect Ruin We heard some outstanding choirs sing a variety of repertoire which the students found inspirational.
The festival mentors were hugely complimentary of our singing and noted that they loved the energy and vibrant sound the choir made.
