Year 7 Science students collected water samples from the school pond as part of their exploration of local ecology.
Students carefully examined their samples and identified the specimens that they contained. Our school ponds are a thriving habitat for pond creatures. We found daphnia, water mites, water boatmen, midge larva, diving beetles and leeches. The ponds are also home to a family of frogs, a mother duck and her gaggle of ducklings, and a range of water plants as well.
Students will now research and write in-depth science reports on one of the specimens identified in their pond dipping field work.
