29th February 16
Year 2 children thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon with Ivana, a Forest School teacher. An excited‘buzz’ evolved into intense focus and immersion as the children listened to the story of ‘mother Africa’ before creating their own clay creatures using natural ‘found’ materials. The level of engagement was palpable as children worked collaboratively to create habitats for their imaginative creatures.
The afternoon ended with an invitation to sit on logs around a fire and share camp fire cooked popcorn. It was a joy to see all the children so completely immersed in their own imaginative worlds, connecting with nature and demonstrating ‘real’ learning through child led play.
