Camps in Middle School
Year 7:
These are an integral part of the Middle School programme and in Year 7 they take place in October. They give children experience of living in a community away from home. We divide the whole year into four groups and each group spends five days accompanied by a male and female member of staff. There may be some preparation or follow up work within the curriculum, for example in Geography the students further their knowledge of different parts of the United Kingdom and undertake written recollections of Camp.
Years 8 and 9:
In Years 8 and 9 Middle School Camps take place at the end of June while the Upper School is sitting examinations. These "camps" are not all under canvas though they will mostly require the pupils to do their own catering, cleaning and be responsible for their own entertainment. We want the children to experience something different from what they have during the rest of the year, either at school or at home. In these camps, a primary goal is for pupils in Years 8 and 9 to mix and great care is taken to achieve a balanced, co-operative mix of students.
