As part of the course, students are required to produce their own films, photoshop work, magazine and television texts.

Students are encouraged to watch and analyse all forms of media including: new media technology, film, television, print media, internet and advertising.

Students will take part in workshops and master classes run by leading professionals in the world of Media.

Students will be encouraged to develop their own understanding of the media industry and media ownership.

The course involves detailed analysis of the forms and conventions of media including genre.

AS G321: Foundation portfolio in Media

50% of the total AS GCE marks coursework. This is a coursework unit where candidates produce two paired media artefacts from a series of briefs.

2. Fiction Film Opening Either:

AS G322: Key media concepts (TV drama)

50% of the total AS GCE marks 2h written exam This question paper has two sections.
Section A: Candidates are required to answer one question based on an unseen moving image extract (TV Drama)
Section B: Candidates are required to answer one question from a study area on British Film.

Advanced GCE Scheme of Assessment

A2 G324: Advanced Portfolio in Media.

25% of the total advanced GCE marks coursework. This is a coursework unit where candidates will produce a media portfolio – a pop promotion pack including Music Video, CD/DVD cover and website presenting their research, planning and evaluation.

A2 G325 Critical Perspectives in Media

25% of the total advanced GCE marks Section A: Candidates are required to answer one question on theoretical evaluation of production. Section B: Candidates answer one question from a choice of six from Contemporary Media Issues. 2 h written paper

B grade in English and a B grade in other Art Subjects
