Course Outline:

A course in Design and Technology offers a unique opportunity in the curriculum for candidates to identify and solve real problems by designing and making products or systems in a wide range of context relating to their personal interests. This AS/AL course is intended to be of interest to candidates with different aptitudes, including those intending to go straight on to a higher education course or a career in Design or associated areas.
Year 13 students have their own studio and their work is exhibited each year. There are also various trips to places of interest. Materials are provided but students will need to buy their own drawing board, drawing equipment and textbooks.

AS Level

DTI 20% 2 hours Product Design Examination Paper

DT2 30% (Approximately 60 hours) Design and Make Task

A Level

DT3 20% 2½ hours Written Paper

DT4 30% (approximately 60 hours)

Major Project

Entry requirements

We require at least a B grade in DT at GCSE or an A Grade in Art.
