Middle School ICT

Normally Years 7, 8 and 9 would be covered here but as Year 9 now do a certificate course the information on this page applies only to Years 7 and 8.
In the KS3 years we try to teach all the basic skills that students will need in further education such as word and report processing, researching, spreadsheet, database and presentation skills. We also try to give students a taster of the many different and varied occupations that are available to students who may want to work in a computer related field. Occupations could include animation, graphic design, music production, video editing, web designer, financial modeler and programmer.

Special emphasis is placed on safe use of the internet and also the pitfalls of putting personal information into the public arena.

Software used:

- Adobe Creative suite CS4 (Photoshop, Indesign, Flash, Premiere, Dreamweaver)
- Audacity (free)
- Microsoft Office (OpenOffice is just as good but free and works on a Mac as well)
