Outline of the School day

The day is split into three teaching sessions, and these may be further divided into two periods, especially in the infant classes. The first teaching session ends with the first break; the second with lunch; and the third with last break. All classes usually end the day reading a story.

Parents are requested to have their children in school at the appointed times. It is our usual practice to have a member of staff present to receive children in Years 2 and 3 from 8.45am at Manor Wood, and from 8.55am at Ivy Wood. For safety reasons we cannot allow children on school grounds prior to 8.30am. Please be sure to keep to these times.
We ask parents to make a special effort to collect their children on time at the end of the day. It can be very distressing to be the only child who has been left behind after all the others have gone. If you think you may be delayed for some reason, please ring the Lower School office on 8457 5243 giving us the time when you expect to arrive so that we can inform your child.
If a child has not been collected 15 minutes after the end of the school day, and if we have not heard from you, we will endeavour to make contact with parents and carers. It is most important, therefore, that you keep the school informed of changes to phone numbers, including work and mobile numbers.
If your child is going home with someone other than the person who usually collects him/her (for example, to play at a friend’s house), please be sure to inform the class teacher in advance and remember to tell your child what the arrangements are. In the case of emergencies, when a child may need to be collected by someone else unexpectedly, you should phone the Lower School office and we will be more than happy to inform the child and do what we can to help. Please remember, however, that this facility should only be used in emergency situations.
