 High Educational Aims
KAS strives to provide an excellent education, enabling relaxed, confident, tolerant and articulate adults, who are able to take responsibility for planning their own lives, to emerge.
KAS begins its work from the child's natural eagerness to learn. Motivation springs from the children's own interests and from the enthusiasm transmitted by the staff. Every effort is made to keep teaching and learning lively and stimulating. Independent learning through investigation is actively encouraged, as are links between subjects to show their interdependence, to reinforce each other and to make learning enjoyable as well as appropriate. Staff are encouraged and are keen to implement new ideas and to be creative in their methods and use of the timetable.
The school enjoys its independence in designing its own curriculum and is not formally bound by the National Curriculum until the end of Year 9 when exam board requirements make it essential. This enables us to incorporate the examination system without being completely driven by it.
KAS measures the success of its educational philosophy by the acknowledged maturity of the students when they leave, by their further academic or professional successes and by the fact that students go on to worthwhile, interesting or unusual pursuits.
